Your Baby Week 26Your baby is craving stimulation at this age, both physical and verbal. Help your baby tone both his large and small motor skills by physically playing with him, and offering him toys like blocks, pots and pans, and telephones. If your baby seems social, encourage it by letting people see him, but be careful about letting them touch your baby, as illness can spread very easily. Describe items around you, letting your baby know what different items, large and small are. Point out cats, dogs, and even airplanes and helicopters. How you speak to your baby is important as well. Make sure you are not speaking in Baby Talk to your baby. The clearer, more pronounced your speech when you talk to your baby, the faster your baby will pick up the language, and you will have an easier time communicating with each other. Make sure you speak slowly, focus on your words, and even point out what you are talking about when you can. Article Continues Below
Week 26 Milestones
It is very possible that by the end of his sixth month, your baby will be able to clearly pronounce both "mama" and "dada" when he either sees you or wants you. By this point he will know what he is asking for, and so will you. What Might Concern You at 26 WeeksBy now your baby is probably too big for his infant bath seat, but may seem too small for the big bath tub. Not only can the bath tub be overwhelming for you, but it can be overwhelming for your baby. You now have several options though for bath time. To help make it smoother, make sure the water is not chilly as babies do not like being cold. You can now buy little blow up bathtubs that sit inside your household bathtub that you can put baby and will seem less gigantic to baby. You can also buy baby seats that turn around that can help the baby seem more secure. Be careful of these however as a baby can possibly tip them over. Always remember that a baby can drown in as little as two inches of water, so be sure not to get out of reach of your baby, incase there is a problem. This time last year...You were 14 Weeks Pregnant! Can you believe it? Time flies too fast! Be sure you start chronicling these infant memories now by creating your free baby journal today! |
