What Your Baby Should Be Doing at 43 Weeks
Your 43 Week Old BabyYour baby is probably craving social interaction. Sitting at home with just Mom and Dad, can get a bit boring. Your baby can, and will, thrive on getting out of the house, even if it is just to the grocery store. Put your baby in the stroller and go walk around the mall. Whether you are shopping or not, your baby will have access to other people and surroundings, and is bound to get lots of attention from people you encounter. If you are lucky enough to live close to one, you could take your baby to the zoo. Your baby will be interested in the animals in their cages, as well as any smaller animals, perhaps in a petting zoo. Remember to take some hand sanitizer along just in case you baby comes in contact with any of the animals. Week 43 MilestonesIf your baby has started to walk before this month, he is probably walking very well by now. When he is at home you do not need shoes for his feet, but make sure you buy a strong sturdy pair if for when you leave the house, even it if is just to the front yard. If you go somewhere where your baby could do a lot of walking be sure you bring your stroller along as well. Chances are that although your baby will want to walk, his legs will tire quickly and he will want to ride as well. What Might Concern You at 43 Weeks
Helping your baby cope with fears: All of a sudden your baby is scared of everything! He used to get in the way by trying to "help" you clean and cook now simple noises such as the vacuum or microwave can send your baby into a fit of tears. This is because as your baby grows, he is becoming more away of the dangerous things in the world and he begins to associate noise with danger. This is actually a good thing! You can help make your baby feel better several ways. The first is simply not doing things like vacuum while your baby is awake or in the room. Another option would be to buy your baby a little toy vacuum, or even a push popper (many kids come to think of these as "vacuums"), and let them vacuum with you. Remember not to ridicule or get upset at your baby, but rather sympathize and show him that you understand and that you don't want to scare him. Eventually he will get over these fears, and you will be able to cook and clean without a screaming infant by your side. This Time Last Year...You were 31 weeks pregnant.
