I had placenta previa with my first child. The doctor didn't know until after a very painful delivery when the placenta would not come out. I had to be taken in for an emergency D&C for them to remove the placenta. It took them several hours because they said it had grown so attached that it would only come out in small pieces. While I did not bleed at all during pregnancy, I bled alot during delivery and had to get a blood transfusion.

I am having spotting occaissonally wih pain in lower abdomen. since 12thwk. now i am 25wks pregnant. ultrasound shows placenta moved from upper segment to upper mid segment posteriorly. Dr suggested tranexamic acid & said whenever baby will have excessive movements i can face bleeding which might be excessive. is it a normal condition? are these the symtoms of placenta previa?

I learned in anatomy class last year that because of 's alcohol composition in can often cross membranes. It disperses differently in your body than other compounds and it is not filtered out the same way. I am guessing this is part of the reason.

Why if the placenta receives nutrients and oxygen and filters out any waste from the mother’s blood before delivering the blood to the baby via the umbilical cord that pregnant women cannot drink alcohol?
