Over the years some rather original names among the celebrity circle have appeared and I list a few here.

The following names are quite well-known that we almost forget they are rather unusual, even strange:

Maddox

Pax

Zahara

Shiloh

Knox

Let’s face it. Angelina Jolie has a flair for naming her children. Only Vivienne, who was named after her mom, has a seemingly normal name.

David and Victoria Beckham, too, picked unusual names for their three boys.

Brooklyn

Romeo

Cruz

Except perhaps for Romeo?

Nahla Ariela Aubry is quite a mouthful for a 1-year-old. Supposedly Nahla means “honeybee” in Arabic and Ariela “lion for God” in Hebrew. I don’t know Halle Berry’s reason for choosing the names. However, the name Nahla reminds me of the lioness in the film “The Lion King.”

Suri (Tom-Kat’s daughter), I find, is a cute name and much nicer than Princess Tiaamii (Jordan and Peter Andre’s daughter). Suri supposedly means “princess” and little Suri is just that.

River

Rain

Summer

Combined with the last name Phoenix, these names really leave an impression. The parents were supposedly nature-inclined, thus explaining their choices.

They are in the same class of Forest Whitaker who named his kids

Ocean

Sonnet

True

Now, when it comes to being original (and weird), I must say nobody can beat Bob Geldof and Paula Yates.

Fifi Trixibelle

Peaches Honeyblossom

Little Pixie

A German article once referred to them as the poodle, the fruit, and the garden dwarf.

Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily is another daughter of Paula with Michael Hutchence.

It seems that musicians do have a way of naming their offsprings. The late Frank Zappa’s daughters were

Moon Unit

Dweezil

Diva Muffin

Are they perhaps related to

Diezel Ky

Denim Cole

children of Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis?

Now, while some celebrities may have some overactive imagine, some are also accused of being simplistic and lacking some.

Apple is Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter.

Sunday Rose (Nicole Kidman´s daughter) was referred to by a German tabloid as “what we had for lunch last weekend “(Sunday roast).

Perhaps celebrities and their offsprings can get away with weird names in the name of artistic license. Mere mortals like you and me however may not. There was a study showing that boys with unpopular names were “more likely to become criminals”. Poor little Adolf Hitler and his siblings.
