It seems like an age ago now; but around 18 weeks ago (21st March 2004)both me and Graeme found out we were expecting our first baby, and we couldn't be happier!
I had an incling that I might be pregnant the week before but after doing a test and only seeing a very faint pink dot, I couldn't decide whether I was imagining it because I wanted it so much, or that it was really truly there. I left it a week so as not to get Graemes hopes up, but after a few months of trying he knew when I was due and soon cottoned on, I couldn't resist telling him then that I thought we might be. The plan was to wait a week so that the pregnancy hormone would be better detected, but excitment got the better of us and we did another test that weekend (20th March, my birthday) the result was not the one we expected, I was so sure that I was by that point I couldn't beleive it was negative. After a pretty rotten day I spoke to a friend here in Bradford (Steph) and she urged me to take a re-test (again) but to try first thing in the morning. So next morning Sunday, 21st March 2004, I did yet another test (the third of many I might add), this time all was well, I'd just found out that I was pregnant on Mothers day, it must have been fate!!
Week Comencing Monday 22nd March
Have a doctors appointment this week just to get things confirmed.
It was a slight dissapointment, I expected it to be a bit like in the movies (silly me). In the end he didn't do very much; just said that if we had done a test and it said positive then we were pregnant and any test he did at the surgery would just be the same.
We were then offered a birth hospital of either Bradford or Halifax, we chose Halifax, so that is where baby Hunter will be born. Halifax hospital is about the same distance as the Bradford one, only difference being is that Halifax is only a year or two old so is quite modern, compared to the BRI which is from the dark ages (only kidding).
The doctor has passed our information on to Halifax (Royal Calderdale) Hospital and they will get in touch with us about scan appointments etc.
Woo Hoo it's started!! Keep up to date with whats happening now in my baby journal entries.
