A few hours old

 
After 2 hours and 8 minutes of labor, Grace Ellen Breanne entered the walls of Nanaimo Regional Hospital at 8:03 a.m (pst). She weighed in at 6 pounds, 15 ounces - she was 19 inches long. Grace came with dark eyes, and a head full of thick, black hair. She was welcomed by her proud parents, Kayleigh and Ryan, and her big brother, Alexander. Attending doctors and nurses included: Dr. Beerman (delivery), Dr. MacDougall (paediatrician), Trina, Patty, and un-known.

When Grace was 1 month old, we were told that she has a rare chromosome disorder known as Duplication (or Partial Trisomy) 4p. They discovered this during a 5-day hospital stay that Grace had when she was 10 days old, due to an infection. Grace's chromosome karyotype shows that she has an unbalanced translocation, meaning that she has more genetic information than she should; an extra piece of the 4p (short arm of chromsosome 4) attached itself to her 15th chromosome. Grace's chromosome 15 is left unaffected because she still as just two copies, just arranged differently than the usual.
