I know, I know, it's been forever since I've updated anything. Life is super busy for a new teacher....
Kira and Kenan have really been enjoying this year at school, and have just completed their studies and are having fun with mama for the summer.
Kira is amazing everyone with her ability to read - she is gaining comprehension faster and faster everyday.
GramBee got to come for a visit last week, and we spent alot of time exploring interesting new places - including historical indian sites, and wandering around new children's gardens that included water play, a human sundial area, a bamboo maze and some really fun digging projects.
I have been really busy interviewing for new jobs - although I really liked working at the school last year, it was farther away than I would have liked, and furthermore, if I work for the same district that the kids attend then I will also get a discount on daycare. So, after much consideration, I will be teaching 9th grade Algebra at an alternative school. Yes, there will be some challenges, but the school is trying to change the focus from only alternative to more of a charter style with open enrollment. So far, they now have about 50% open enrollment students, so they are gaining ground. And, as a benefit, I will only have to work Mon-thursday teaching, and have a half day on friday for just my prep time. Not a bad deal, as long as the kids turn out to be ok. And, if all else fails, I can always transfer back to the junior high level next year.
