Sadly, we lost our darling Cianán on the 13th February. He was brain damaged due to lack of oxygen at birth. We are so glad he looked at us briefly on his birthday. He sucked my finger and actually turned his head towards us. I so wish we'd had more time with him. Very, very much loved and missed every day, I long to hold him just one more time. Cianán will always be in our hearts, never ever forgotten. Cianán is an Irish name (pronounced 'key-anan')a variation on Ciaran. Most people used the shortened version these days, Cian/Kian. We like it because it's different.
The following poem I have laminated with a picture of Cianán's footprints on. It now goes on his grave every birthday from Mummy and Daddy..
"These are my footprints, so perfect and so small. These tiny footprints, never touched the ground at all. Not one tiny footprint, for now I have my wings. These tiny footprints were meant for other things. You will hear my tiny footprints, in the patter of the rain. Gentle drops like angels tears, of joy and not from pain. You will see my tiny footprints, in each butterflies' lazy dance. I'll let you know I'm with you, if you give me just a chance. You will see my tiny footprints, in the rustle of the leaves. I will whisper names into the wind, and call each one that grieves. Most of all, these tiny footprints, are found in mummy's heart, cause even though I'm gone now, we'll never truly part."
Another fave poem below. Cianán always has snowdrops by his grave on his birthday...
Little Snowdrop The world may never notice if a Snowdrop doesn't bloom, Or even pause to wonder if the petals fall too soon. But every life that ever forms, or ever comes to be, Touches the world in some small way for all eternity. The little one we longed for was swiftly here and gone. But the love that was then planted is a light that still shines on. And though our arms are empty, our hearts know what to do. Every beating of our hearts says that we love you.
Connor and I planted some snowdrops in a few pots last autumn. The only ones that have flowered so far are the one's in Cianán's winter pot, in time for his birthday. Cianán would've been 5 this birthday. He would've started school last month. When we discovered Connor would start school next Jan, it dawned on us that Cianán would've been in his uniform and at school by now...
Today, 22nd June '08, we completed a sponsored walk for Leeds Sands, which I am treasurer of. And it was looong! 10.7 km (about 7miles) tramping along roads, fields, and stoney muddy tracks around Apperly Bridge and Yeadon, nr Leeds/Bradford. We reckon between us all we have raised about a £1000, through sponsorship, and collection tins in pubs on the route for Sands(Stillbirth and Neo-natal Death Society). I have added a pic to Cianán's photo gallery.
Please sign Cianán's Guestbook so we know you've been. Thank You!
