Other News...
(3/2005) Lauren's words include: mama, dada, hi, bye, no, yes, "yeah," duck, dog, book, baby, bottle, up, more, that, and probably some others that we don't recognize yet!
Lauren's favorite books: Baby Beluga, Ho Ho Ho, Goodnight Moon, Scooby Doo books, and Dora the Explorer books.
Updates: May 2005: We went to Hilton Head, SC, and Lauren loved splashing in the pool. She also liked the sand at the beach. She even looks a little bit tan, even though we plastered her with sunscreen!
July '05: Lauren loves to play outside, and stands by the back door yelling, "out!" when she is ready to go. She likes climbing up in the playset, sliding down the slide, and swimming in the little pool. Just in the last couple weeks, she has added close to 10 words to her vocabulary! New ones include bubble, heart, shoes, and car.
August 2005: One of Lauren's favorite toys is her Itty Bitty Baby doll. The doll is dressed in pink, but she calls it "Boy."
September 2005: Lauren will be starting in the Parents Day Out program at our church soon. She will be in the 2-year-old class once a week.
November 2005: Lauren is two! She likes to tell us how old she is, and also says that everyone else is two. Her favorite story to tell involves a cat jumping into our car at her uncle Matt's house. She says, "cat, car, Matt, head." Translation: A cat jumped into our car, Matt got it out, and held it over his head.
January 2006: Lauren got a big girl bed! She picked out a Dora toddler bed with Strawberry Shortcake bedding. She had a great time looking at Christmas lights this past season. She liked to say, "Cool lights. Any more?" She now has a habit of saying "oopies" instead of oops when she drops something. She loves playing with puzzles, Strawberry Shortcake dolls, My Little Pony, Care Bears and her American Girl Bitty Babies. Her favorite Sesame Street characters are Elmo and Zoe. It is so cute when she says Zoe...it's more like Zho-yo. :-)
March 2006: We took Lauren and Zachary to Build-a-Bear. Lauren made a chick with a Hello Kitty shirt, whom she named Kitty. Zachary made a dog with a Cubs hat named Cubs. Lauren is talking a lot! She loves playing with dolls and coloring. She also likes Mommy to paint her fingernails and toenails. Since her bangs are long enough to get in her eyes, she has decided it's ok to wear some barrettes and pigtails, finally!
May 2006: Lauren is done with her first year of preschool (Parents Day Out). She loved the pigs when we went to the zoo recently. One of our favorite phrases that she says is, "What is that noise is?" She was calling guinea pigs "biggie kids," but she recently figured out the correct pronunciation--we think the first way is cuter!! :-)
July 2006: Lauren has been to lots of baseball games lately! Matt has played some games in our area and Zachary has had T-ball games. Lauren had a good time on our Virginia trip last month. We have also been to the zoo and some parks. Lauren really loves books and her baby dolls. She covers her babies with blankies and reads books to them.
August 2006: Lauren's favorite animal at the zoo this summer has been the pigs. She has been counting down to her third birthday, which actually isn't until November! She is planning to have a Zoe or a Dora birthday cake, though.
October 2006: Lauren's birthday is coming up soon (Nov. 2)! She is going to be Cheer Bear for Halloween. We have already gone to the Zoo Halloween so she got a chance to wear her costume! We also went to our church's "Trunk or Treat," where people passed out candy from their decorated car trunks.
November 2, 2006: Happy Birthday, Lauren!!
November 2006: Lauren had a great Backyardigans birthday party. She got books, Backyardigans toys, clothes, Polly Pockets, and more!
January 2007: Lauren loved Christmas, and was amazed that she saw Santa five times over the holiday season. She got some baby dolls, a Dora dollhouse, and many other toys. At various celebrations, she would quietly announce, "I want some more presents" after she was done opening hers. Lauren would like to try ice skating after watching Notre Dame vs. Northern Michigan hockey.
March 2007: Lauren just finished swimming lessons and is getting ready for gymnastics. Her favorite books are Strawberry Shortcake books. She also loves to paint, put beads on strings, play ball, and play with dolls.
April 2007: Lauren was a butterfly in her preschool's spring program. She also got to go to a one-day, parent/child zoo camp.
July 2007: We've been playing with a lot of sidewalk chalk and sidewalk paint this summer! Lauren is also a great catcher/outfielder when Zachary practices batting. She loves to look at books, and often "reads" the story out loud to us. She also likes to identify letters and tell us which friends have names that start with those letters. On a recent trip to the zoo, Lauren liked the "pecans" (toucans). :-)
September 2007: Lauren is now in the Pre-K class at preschool. We took a vacation to Tennessee this summer, with a stop in Kentucky. She and Zachary really wanted to eat at a KFC in Kentucky, so we made sure we stopped at one! Lauren liked our cabin in TN and she liked riding the train at Dollywood. She got a stuffed turtle at the aquarium in Gatlinburg, which she now calls Tennessee Turtle.
November 2007: Lauren celebrated her fourth birthday! She had a Dora cake (vanilla) and a Lazytown cake (chocolate). She was Snow White for Halloween! She was going to be Pikachu just like Zachary, but changed her mind at the last minute.
January 2008: Lauren has been playing with Barbies and her American Girl dolls a lot lately! She recently had a camping out day at preschool and loved it. She took her Disney Princess tent, her Barbie sleeping bag, her pajamas, and a lantern/flashlight.
