We traveled to Russia to meet Laura and Natalie for the first time in January of 2002. What an unbelievable moment it was to hold our daughters for the first time! We had a wonderful time with them at the orphanage. It was heartbreaking to leave them and go home and wait for a court date.
Finally! In April of 2002 we traveled back to Russia to bring our daughters home! On April 9, 2002 we went to court in Russia and the judge finalized our adoption. We were finally a family!
What an amazing six years we've had since they have been home. Our daughters bring sunshine, joy and giggles into our home every single day. They are bright, healthy and oh so active first graders! Our lives have been so richly blessed since we became their parents.
As an aside, we have been asked numerous times over the years if our daughters are identical or fraternal. Of course we did not know as the medical information we received on them was scarce. We did have a twin zygosity DNA test done on them. The results:They are fraternal twins. While we were waiting on the results of the tests, their Dad predicted that they are identical; Mom predicted that they are fraternal. Guess "a mother's intuition" comes through again, huh?
Over the years we have had many people visit this website that are interested in Russian adoption.
