This is the first photo we saw of our girls. They are 15 months old. Natalie is on the left; Laura on the right. Do we believe in love at first sight? Absolutely! It was a heartstopping moment when these little faces came up on my computer screen!

Laura and Natalie were born on August 13, 2000, in Kostroma, Russia. Laura weighed 5 pounds, 1 ounce. Natalie weighed 4 pounds, 6 1/2 ozs. Both were 20 inches long. Although we did not know it until 15 months later, these two tiny angels were destined to be our daughters!
We were first introduced to them on November 20, 2001 via photos that were emailed to us by our adoption agency. The above photo was taken in the Baby Home in Kostroma, Russia. How tiny they were! For years we had hoped, wished and prayed for a daughter. Now, through the miracle of adoption, we were beginning the journey to go half way around the world and bring home not just one daughter...but two! Our dossier (paperwork)arrived in Russia in August of 2001. Eight months later we brought Laura and Natalie home. The "missing pieces" of our hearts and lives were finally complete.

We traveled to Russia to meet Laura and Natalie for the first time in January of 2002. What an unbelievable moment it was to hold our daughters for the first time! We had a wonderful time with them at the orphanage. It was heartbreaking to leave them and go home and wait for a court date.
Finally! In April of 2002 we traveled back to Russia to bring our daughters home! On April 9, 2002 we went to court in Russia and the judge finalized our adoption. We were finally a family!
On April 9, 2009 we celebrated our 7th Family Day. What an amazing seven years we've had since they have been home. We've gone from 20 month old crawlers to fourth season soccer players! Our daughters bring sunshine, joy and giggles into our home every single day. They are bright, healthy and oh so active second graders! Our lives have been so richly blessed since we became their parents. God has truly given all four of us to each other.
