"Oh my little darling, we are richer by far, to have held you a moment, then to never have held you at all."
Owen is our first child. My husband and I had only been married a couple of months when we found out that we were pregnant with him. We were so excited from the beginning. We knew that we wanted child and the sooner the better. Our whole family was excited. We had a wonderful pregnancy. No problems, little morning sickness and just lots of fun beautiful memories with our angel. We went in for our final appointment before Owen was born and everything was fine, wonderful heartbeat, no problems. I was not dilated and was a week out from my due date so along with my doctor we decided that I could be induced on Tuesday. Our final appointment was on a Wednesday. I never had a second thought that anything was wrong. I felt less movement but everyone was planning on a big baby and there is only so much room. On Tuesday March 14, 2006, I went in to be induced and the nurse was having trouble finding his heartbeat. Just thinking that he was positioned wrong or something they tried to find it, got an ultrasound machine and they could not find his heartbeat. By this time my husband and myself knew that something was wrong. Maternal fetal medicine came in with the higher level ultrasound machine and she informed us that Owen had passed away. The shock hit and from there I made the decision to have a c-section. I went in the operating room and Owen John was born by c-section at 10:29am weighing 7lbs 13oz and was 20 inches long. He was so beautiful and I could not believe that this was happening. We had wanted him so badly never expecting something of this nature to happen. We held Owen in our arms for over 12 hours. They were very sad hours but the best because I got to hold my beautiful son.
Many people came to visit and held Owen. I am so happy that so many people got to see an Angel that day.
I BECAME A BIG BROTHER ON 7-2-07. I BECAME A BIG BROTHER AGAIN ON 4-21-09.
