Michael Timothy Lombard was born on a Wednesday, December 1,1999 at 7:32 pm with an apgar score of 1 requiring full esusciatation. He weighed 2 pounds,4 ounces and and was 14 inches long.
Michael's medical problems following birth were: Underdevelopment of Lungs requiring Surfactant used to inflate the Lungs, INTRAVENTRICULAR BRAIN HEMORRHAGE, HYDROCEPHALUS (fluid accumalation in the brain), PDA- Patent Ductus Arteriosus(a blood vessel which takes blood from the heart and bypasses the lungs usually closes after birth but Michael's did not so he required medication to close it), APNEA (breathing temporarily stops for periods of 20 seconds or more, BRADYCARDIA (slowing of the heart below normal), GASTROINTESTINAL REFLUX.
iN 2002, Michael was diaognosed with CRANIOSYNOTOSIS and required 2 skull reconstructive surgeries to correct the premature closing of his sutures in his skull. Recently we were told that Michael has a abnormal genetic condition in which he has a delection of the 2nd chromosome. We are waiting for more test to be available in the future to tell us more about this chromosomal abnormality. From the very beginning our Michael has been a fighter...through every test God has given him and for that we call him our little tiger.
