13 1/2 week update: Zachary loves playing with his Fisher Price activity gym, looking in mirrors, and smiling. His dog, Melanie, is hoping he'll be able to play fetch with her soon!
5 month update: Zachary eats cereal every night before bed, and he tasted his first solid food (green beans) on 7/16/00. On 7/11/00, Zachary weighed 17 1/2 pounds!
1 1/2 year update: Zachary's favorite activity is basketball. He also enjoys playing catch with a ball and reading books. His vocabulary is quite extensive. He especially likes demonstrating animal sounds!
20 month update: Zachary still loves shooting baskets and reading. He has made nice little friends in our neighborhood and at church.
22 month update: Zachary's second Christmas is coming! He loves to sing "Sassy (Frosty) the Snowman" and he is very interested in the ornaments on our tree.
24 month update: Zachary is two! He enjoyed his Blue's Clues cake and opened lots of presents. He plays with his new Little Leap and Lily Leap Frogs a lot.
28 month update: Zachary loves going up to the lake and throwing rocks into the water. He's been playing a lot of baseball outside, as well as blowing lots of bubbles!
30 month update: We just got back from a nice vacation to Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina. Zachary liked the horses in KY, the aquarium in Gatlinburg, and the bear we saw eating from a dumpster!
Oct 2002: Zachary is going to be Tigger for Halloween!
Dec 2002: Zachary got so many toys for Christmas, we're having trouble finding places for them all! He got an easel, a tunnel to crawl through, lots of cars, a remote control car with a track, a Leap Frog Learning Pad, and much, much more! Hopefully we'll have all the toys in their places before more toys arrive on Zachary's birthday in February!
Jan. 2003: It's almost time for Zachary's birthday! He wants to have a pumpkin cake, so we're going to have a Veggie Tales theme party.
Feb. 2003: Zachary is three (or "free," as he proudly states)!
March 2003: We just got back from our vacation to Charleston and Hilton Head, SC. Zachary had a great time, especially since we stayed at the Disney Resort in Hilton Head. We saw dolphins, took a carriage ride, swam in the pool, and played at the beach. We had great weather!
April 2003: We're hoping the nice weather days outnumber the cold and rainy days so we can play outside more! In addition to his love for sports, Zachary has been demonstrating his culinary skills. He helped make brownies by "hatching the eggs" for the mix. :-)
May 8, 2003: Zachary moved into his new room, with a big bed!
July 2003: Zachary visited Detroit, MI, and Niagara Falls. He says his favorite part of the trip was seeing the colored lights on the falls at night.
August 2003: Zachary was excited to find out that "Our Baby," due in November, is a girl!
After seeing his uncle Matt's football game, Zachary proclaimed that his favorite aspect of the game was the cheerleaders.
September 2, 2003: Zachary started preschool today! He was very excited to wear his new backpack and nametag. He enjoyed Circle Time, when they read books.
October 31, 2003: Zachary was Spongebob for Halloween! He also gave out candy at our house after trick-or-treating.
November 2, 2003: Zachary is a big brother! Lauren Mary Rose Bailey was born at 11:32 a.m.
December 2003: Merry Christmas! Zachary left a brownie for Santa, a carrot for Rudolph, and cheese for Santa Mouse.
January 2004: The second day of January was a little unusual...it was 60 degrees! Zachary got to try out the new bike he got for Christmas.
February 2004: Zachary is four! He had a Jay Jay the Jet Plane birthday party.
May 2004: Zachary is finished with preschool for the year, but he has a busy summer ahead with swimming lessons and two day camps.
July 2004: One of Zachary's new favorite activities at the lake is fishing. He caught some blue gill and bass with his grandpa!
September 2004: It's time for preschool to start! Zachary is in the Caring Cubs class with Miss Lenore. We're counting down the days until our Disney vacation in October!
October 2004: We great weather on our Disney trip. We visited the Magic Kingdom, the Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, and Epcot.
Zachary was Spiderman this Halloween.
December 2004: Zachary had a fun Christmas, and really loves his new marble racer and GeoTrax additions. He also got a 5-in-1 game table that he spends a lot of time playing with.
January 2005: Happy New Year! Zachary moved into a bigger bedroom in our house so he could have more toy room. His new bedroom is complete with new carpet and a soon-to-be hung sports wallpaper border.
February 2005: Zachary turned 5! We sent his kindergarten enrollment forms to the school, and he is looking forward to kindergarten in the fall! He had his birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese with friends, and a Scooby Doo birthday cake at home.
April 2005: We had a great trip to Savannah, GA, and Hilton Head, SC! Zachary's friend Logan went to Hilton Head at the same time, so they had a fun time playing in the sun. Zachary got a hole-in-one in miniature golf!
May 2005: Zachary had his preschool graduation program. Now he's all set for kindergarten!
July 2005: Zachary caught four fish during a recent stay at the lake with Grandmie!
August 2005: Zachary increased his fish count to 27 over a two-day span! He has become quite the fisherman. Zachary also started Kindergarten this year!!! He gets to ride the bus in the morning, and really likes reading and math.
November 2005: We met with Zachary's teacher for parent-teacher conferences. She had a lot of great things to say about Zachary, including a comment about Zachary's readiness to learn. He is doing well with reading!
January 2006: Zachary had a fun Christmas vacation. One of his favorite presents was a T-Rex Mountain. He turns 6 next month, and is in semester 2 of kindergarten!
February 2006: Zachary is 6! He had a birthday party at the Golf Dome, where he and his friends played miniature golf, jumped in a big bouncy moonwalk, played air hockey, and had pizza and cake.
Zachary also started Little Shots basketball. This is a 6-week program through his school.
March 2006: Zachary is finished with Little Shots, and received a brand new red, white, and blue basketball from his coach at the last game. We went to the FAME festival (Foundation for Art and Music Education) to see some of Zachary's artwork on display.
May 2006: Zachary lost his first tooth! He also sang a solo at his Kindergarten program, and he started T-ball practice. He is almost done with Kindergarten, and is looking forward to our upcoming trip to Virginia.
July 2006: Zachary is finished with T-ball. He has now been to zoo camp and farm camp, too! It has been a busy summer. He has had lots of fun catching fish at the lake, just like last summer.
August 2006: Zachary is in first grade! This is his first experience with all-day school, and he is doing really well. Tomorrow is his first soccer practice and game!
October 2006: Zachary is finished with soccer season and is now on to basketball! He is going to be a skeleton for Halloween.
Nov. 2006: Zachary had a great time at his first basketball game of the season. He scored 2 pts!
We recently saw the movie Cars for the second time, and Zachary is waiting for its arrival on DVD.
Jan. 2007: Happy New Year! Zachary's favorite Christmas presents were a Game Boy Advance and Pokemon cards. He got lots of games and toys, so we need to do some room rearranging to fit everything in! Zachary's second round of Little Shots starts next week.
March 2007: Zachary had his 7th birthday party last month at Chuck E. Cheese. He finished his baketball season, and is anxiously awaiting baseball season. He won one of the practice spelling bees at his school recently!
May 2007: Zachary just finished three weeks of swimming lessons at school. His class went to the high natatorium for their lessons. Baseball practice started last week, too.
July 2007: Zachary has had a busy summer with baseball, zoo camp, and next week is farm camp. He has lost both front teeth now! His favorite books to read are the Magic Treehouse books.
September 2007: Zachary started 2nd grade! He also just started soccer season. He is still missing both front teeth. In late July, we took a trip to TN, with a stop in Kentucky. Zachary still likes the aquarium in Gatlinburg. He wasn't afraid of the moving sidewalk though, like he was when he was 2! He really liked Dollywood and the Dixie Stampede. He had fun playing pool and making s'mores at our cabin, too.
November 2007: Basketball season has begun! Zachary is doing well in school. His teacher just started him on the 3rd grade math book since he has been doing well in their 2nd grade book.
January 2008: Zachary had his tonsils out recently and is doing well! He has been playing a lot of Monopoly since he's been out of school. He's hoping to return soon and get back to basketball.
February 2008: Happy 8th birthday, Zachary! He had his party at Crazy Pinz, which has bowling, mini-golf, arcade games, and an enclosed area for climbing. He also had a Pikachu cake.
December 2008: Zachary is almost half-way through 3rd grade! We took some short summer trips to Chicago and St. Louis. Zachary was Harry Potter for Halloween. He's currently reading the Harry Potter series and he is almost finished with the second book.
