What's New For InfantsWatch out for poison in your home. Even if you have an item that could be dangerous to your baby in a latched lower cupboard, it might be smarter to move it to a locked cabinet that your baby can not access at all. Anything that you put out of reach from you baby will be enticing and just make him try harder to reach it. Sadly, Baby proofing medicine is something often overlooked by parents as they baby proof the house. Make sure you keep all medicines out of reach of your baby, even baby medicine. Whenever possible, buy medicines and other products that are equipped with a child proof cap. Make sure you put poison labels on anything dangerous in your house, with the local poison control number posted in a prominent place, so that if your baby does get into something, whoever finds them knows it is poison and knows who to call immediately. Developmental Milestones*It is about this time that your baby might be discovering himself at diaper time. Many parents worry that this is a bad thing for their baby, or that it is a sign of something to come in the future.
In reality, it is a normal process of human sexuality that often can start in utero. You should never make your baby feel bad for doing this, as the repercussions can last into adulthood. When your baby becomes a toddler, if he is still fascinated with what is down there, explain to him that it is fine to be curious, but he should not be curious in front of other people, only when he is alone, because that is a very private area. What Might Concern You at 34 WeeksIs your baby left handed or right handed? At this point it might be very hard to tell. Babies are generally ambidextrous and can accurately and concisely use both their right hands and left hands to accomplish the same tasks. Many babies do not show a large preference till after their first birthday, sometimes closer to their second. Your "handedness" is determined before birth and therefore a parent should never try to force their children to be what they think they should use the hand opposite of the hand they are naturally drawn to using. A few babies will never have a "preference" and will continue to use both hands consistently through adulthood. This time last year...You were 22 Weeks Pregnant! Can you believe it? Time flies too fast! Be sure you start chronicling these infant memories now by creating your free baby journal today! |
