What Your Baby Should Be Doing at 52 Weeks
Your 52 Week Old BabyHappy Birthday!! Can you believe a full year has already passed? While your one year old doesn't know the difference, you do, and you will probably spend this week thinking back to what you were doing one year ago. Whether it was thinking the pregnancy would never end, or feeling those first pains of labor, or holding your baby for the first time, you are bound to realize how much has happened in the last year. In the last year your baby has gone from sleeping, crying and eating, to laughing, talking, and possibly walking! He is now a social butterfly and barely resembles the wrinkled newborn you brought home. Be happy that your baby has grown up so much and enjoy the birthday celebration. Week 52 MilestonesYour baby doesn't have a clue what is going on. He is seeing all the celebration preparations going on, is fascinated by the colors and pictures, but doesn't understand. Let him play with the decorations some (he will be learning about colors and textures), and make sure he gets to enjoy his cake. 
What Might Concern You at 52 WeeksNow that your baby is one, you are thinking about more ways to stimulate him. There are lots of ideas. Make sure he has a place to play that is safe and fun. Indoors and outdoors are both good. Room to run and climb is a good idea as well. Now that he can walk, push toys are great for fun as well as for perfecting the walking skills. Your baby could also start scribbling now with both crayons and pencils. Be careful where they are coloring and watch them to keep them from eating the crayons. While they are non-toxic, they can certainly be a bit messy. It might be a good time to invest in Color Wonders, which are markers that only show up on the special paper that comes with them.
